Think I could fit more B words into that title?  You're welcome.  Well, if you're like me, and I know I am, you're a huge Beatles fan.  They're just one of those groups that I just always go back to, like a touchstone of my tastes.  I thought we'd do something different here on the show starting next week, and hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Let's just get this out of the way: yes, I'm a huge Beatles fan.  Early rock and roller Beatles, late period hairy bearded Beatles, Rubber Soul Era Tired Beatles, Trippy 1967 Beatles, Angry White Album Beatles, Early Funny Beatles, whatever it is, sign me up. I'd say that they're my favorite band ever.  I've loved them since I was about 13 years old.

I didn't seriously start looking for my own music to listen to until maybe 7th grade.  I listened to what my parents did up until then: Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Genesis,  Led Zeppelin.  Not that that's a bad upbringing, but when you're a young person you want to find things that you will feel are your own.

I had heard of them all my life, since my parents also liked them and had several of their records (although Mom was a bigger Monkees fan).  I remember I got a record player/tape deck/radio one year as a present, and I had tapes but no records. So I borrowed a few albums from my parents that looked interesting, just based on what the album cover looked like.  I remember taking Monty Python's "Matching Tie And Handkerchief," Pink Floyd's "The Wall," and The Beatles "1963-1966" compilation, aka the Red Disks.

Those choices probably say a lot about who I am nowadays, huh.

As a huge Beatles nerd, I love playing them in the morning show whenever I can.  And while everyone knows the big hits we play like "Hey Jude," "Lady Madonna," "Penny Lane" and "Something," some of my favorites aren't necessarily the ones you've heard a million times.  Don't get me wrong, I love playing all their songs.  But that's my problem.  I love all the songs!  I want to play more, more more!

So that's what our new segment starting next week will be about.  Every day at the start of the show, we'll play a different Beatles song.  Whether it's an album track, a cover, a live version, an alternate take, whatever.  Every day when you get up at 6:00 a.m. for your breakfast, you and I will be Beatling it up.  So let me know if there's a particular favorite of yours that you'd like to hear, or maybe one you haven't heard in a while.  Let me know and I'll do my best.  I'm going to be using my personal Beatle collection, and as far as I know, I have everything they've officially put out on disc.

Why am I doing this? Pretty much it's because it's my show and I want to.  I hope you'll like it, and that you'll enjoy some Beatle Nerd Factoids that I'll have every now and then.   I don't think I'm going to start in any particular order, but who knows.  Either way, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Please Pleasingly yours,
Behka
