Behka’s Secret Stash: Joanna Newsom

Kids, today I'm going to talk a little about a person who you might view as a tad odd.

But, you see, I don't think of it as odd, I think of it as creative.  She's a young lady who is named Joanna Newsom and she's recorded for Drag City for a few years now.  She's done three albums, the latest of which was a triple disk called 'Have One On Me.'  This is is one of the songs from that album, it's called "Soft as Chalk".

She performed it on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  She was known for a few years by her instrumentation and strange voice. She almost exclusively played the harp for her first two albums, and now she's branched off a bit into further instrumentation.

I saw her on tour in Chicago a while back and she was just outstanding.  Give it a shot, I know she can be a little hard to distinguish in terms of what she's singing, but the lyrics are pretty solid.
