Noonday Optimist Club Honors Outstanding First Responders

The Noonday Optimist Club of Sedalia presented their annual Respect for Law Awards Thursday night at the Sedalia Country Club, 5074 Highway Y.

Receiving plaques at the dinner were:

Sedalia Police Department Det. Ty Barrett
Pettis County Deputy Cameron Anderson
Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Micah Bennett
Sedalia Fire Department Inspector Jacon Carver
Sedalia-Pettis County EMA Volunteer Don Weldon
Pettis County Ambulance District Captain Bobby Sanchez

Each recipient was introduced by their superior.

Guest speaker for the event was Sgt. Andrew J. Bell.

Boy Scout Troop #61 posted the Colors at the start of the awards dinner.

Each recipient was also given several boxes of Girl Scout cookies, courtesy of Optmist Club member Charlotte Scholl.

The club currently has 37 members and meets every Tuesday at noon at the Heckart Community Center, according to Club Secretary/Treasurer Jason Myers. Visitors are welcome.
