This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department crime reports.


 

On the afternoon of April 23rd, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard for a warrant check. A subject with a felony Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County was located. John Nathan Hale Sr., 49, of Sedalia, was arrested for his FTA warrant on charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hale was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrant. Bond was set at $7500 cash or surety.


 

Early Monday morning, Officers responded to the Casey’s store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to welfare check on a subject asleep in a vehicle. Officers made contact with the subject, who consented to a search of the vehicle and his person. He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. James A. Clark, 40, of Warsaw, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Clark was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 2400 block of West Main Street Sunday evening. Destin T. Woods reported his online banking provider was hacked. Money was stolen out of his account. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing.


 

Sunday evening, Officers responded to the 1100 block of Wilkerson Street in reference to what was reported as an actively suicidal subject with a firearm. With the assistance of the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a perimeter was established around the residence. Officers were able to establish communication with the subject inside the residence. The subject agreed to come out of the residence without incident. After speaking with the subject, it was determined to be a false report. A case report was made of the incident.


 

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft in progress. Officers made contact with the suspects outside of the business. Asset protection provided information for the items stolen. Jasei Dotson, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting and Destruction of Non-City Property. Dots was released on the scene with a city summons.


 

Early Saturday morning, Officers responded to what was initially reported as a hit and run crash in the 500 block of East 13th Street. The caller stated someone had crashed into a garage at a residence, and left the area. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with a subject in the front yard of the residence, who stated that subjects had broken in to his house and another address. Officers began speaking with the caretaker of the residence. She stated she was there to take care of the other residents. They stated they had heard the loud crash of the vehicle’s impact. The caretaker stated everything was fine before the accident. Officers noticed a red 2013 Chevrolet Silverado on scene, and realized it belonged to Randall Dotson. Dotson stated he had pulled behind the house, and then he heard noises from the garage. Those noises led him to believe someone was being raped inside the garage. He then drove his truck into the garage, crashed into the door, backed up, and hit it again. He sated he parked and then went to confront who he believed were the suspects. Officers spoke with the caretaker, who explained the situation to her manager, and they requested charges over the incident. The value of the damage to the door was valued at approximately $800.00. Randall A. Dotson, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Property Damage in the 1st Degree. Bond was set at $2500 cash or surety, with conditions that Dotson is not to have contact with the victim.


 

On the evening of April 24th, Officers took a call concerning a violation of an ex-parte over the phone. During the call, Officers gathered information. The violation occurred in the 1800 block of South Harrison Avenue. Officers gathered information and statements to file charges.


 

Officers responded to the 200 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance Sunday night. Officers made contact with the victim, who said her boyfriend forcibly stole her phone and threw her on the ground. Officers were later able to locate the suspect. Braidn Filmore Ford, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested of a charge of Stealing and Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Ford was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on 24-hour hold pending state charges.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Summit Avenue to investigate a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with both parties and began an investigation. During the investigation, it was discovered that the parties involved engaged in mutual combat. Joshua DeWayne Butterfield, 39, and Henry Kane Hatfield, 57, both of Sedalia, were arrested on charges of Private Peace Disturbance. Both Hatfield and Butterfield were issued court summons for the incident.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft in progress. Two suspects were stopped after attempting to shoplift. The adult subject, Faith E. Stonecipher, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Stonecipher was released with a court summons.


 

Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft in progress Saturday afternoon. A male suspect had left the store with a concealed wrist watch he had removed from the package. Blake A. Banner, 25, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. Banner was issued a summons and trespassed from the store per Wal Mart’s request.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft in progress. The suspect concealed multiple items while in the checkout, and was apprehended by Asset Protection. Timothy R. Hurr, 39, of Sedalia was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Hurr was released from the scene with a court summons.


 

Saturday night, Officers responded to The Venue, 219 South Ohio Avenue in reference to a physical disturbance. Officers encountered multiple intoxicated subjects, who were having an altercation. No subjects wanted to pursue charges. One subject was highly intoxicated and began yelling, causing a disturbance. After being told multiple times to stop yelling, the subject was arrested. Chase A. Agnew, 38, of Pennsylvania, was arrested on charges of Peace Disturbance. Agnew was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 12-hour safekeeping hold.


 

Saturday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue. Officers identified the driver an checked her information through Dispatch. She was found to have suspended driver’s license. Tatiana L. Monroy, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Suspended. Monroy was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Officers responded to the Phillips 66*, 216 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a fraud report. The complainant stated a white female came into the store to buy various items, and used fake currency to do so. The female was described, but has not been identified at this time.


 

An anonymous subject turned in a wallet to the Sedalia Police Saturday evening. The wallet had been found in the 600 block of South Missouri Avenue. Officers made contact with the owner, and they said they had lost the wallet over two years ago. The owner asked for the wallet to be destroyed and the contents inside shredded.


 

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store in reference to a theft. Officers were told several subjects were in the store shoplifting, and had fled prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Several citizens pointed Officers in the direction of where the subjects went. There was a makeup bag and a bottle of water (stolen merchandise) partially creating a trail to the suspects. Officers located the three suspects, and directed them to sit outdoors. One of the suspects stated he took a pair of sunglasses and turned them over to the Officers. Later, a search of his person found a cigarette pack containing a broken glass meth pipe coated in residue, a red plastic straw with a white crystal substance in it, and a plastic baggie containing a while crystal substance. Officers also located plastic bag with nuggets of marijuana in his pocket. Drake L. Ballew, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Stealing, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Ballew was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold. The other two suspects were juveniles, and therefore not listed in the report.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to shoplifting. Breanna L. James, 19, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. James was released on the scene with a city summons, and a trespass from the Wal Mart store.


 

Sedalia Police met with Marion A. Cole Saturday morning at the Police Station. Cole wished to report his trailer had been stolen. The trailer was last seen at a relative’s house. The victim waited nearly three weeks to check with others to see if they had borrowed the trailer without his knowledge. When he exhausted his base, he reported the trailer as stolen. The report was given to Joint Communication to be entered as stolen.


 

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to shoplifting. A subject was stopped by employees with the store after being observed stealing an item from the store. The value of the item was estimated at approximately $4.16. Cassandra Louis Eckhoff, 31, of Cole Camp, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. Eckhoff was released with a citation and a court date.


 

Officers responded to the State Fair Shopping Center, 1400 South Limit Avenue on Saturday morning in reference to an assault. Officers spoke with Derrell Anthony Whitley, and gathered information to generate a report.


 

Early Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 700 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a missing person. Officers spoke with Kathy Johnson, who stated her husband never returned home earlier in the evening. The subject has been located.


 

On the evening of May 3rd, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a theft report. Officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated two male subjects had entered the business and stole a few items, then fled the scene on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspects, but were able to identify them from the surveillance video.


 

Sedalia Police met with a victim of domestic assault in the Police Department lobby Friday evening. The victim explained that she had gotten a ride home from work with a co-worker. When they arrived at the residence, they went inside because she wanted to show the co-worker a new dining room set. The suspect, the victim’s estranged husband, pulled into the driveway, and entered the house with them. Once inside, the victim stated she and the suspect began arguing. The suspect wanted a pistol (a Glock 23) handed over to him that they own. The victim refused to give it to him, because he is a convicted felon. After an argument, the suspect allegedly “threw her into a wall" and began threatening her life if she did not give him the firearm. Police observed dried blood on her right ear, and indicated the injury was a result of the conflict. The witness corroborated hearing arguing and yelling, and then sounds of a struggle. When the witness entered the bedroom, they observed the suspect standing over the victim as he had her up against a wall. The witness described the victim as “cowering and covering herself with her hands”. The suspect was located a short time later in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect denied anything physical had occurred. Ronald K. Green, 61, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety, with a bond condition of no contact with the victim.


 

Officers took a phone call from Jennifer Casdorph on the morning of May 1st. She reported finding an inoperable cell phone in the 1300 block of South Murray Avenue. The phone was taken and secured into the evidence facility for proper handling.


 

On the morning of May 3rd, Officers were dispatched to the Fortune Palace restaurant, 3005 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a burglary. Officers gathered information for a report.


 

Author’s note: The following reports were all individually filed over the weekend. They have been compiled into one story because they all occurred in the same block. It is not known or indicated in the reports if they concern the same suspects.  Friday afternoon, a female came into the lobby of the Police Department to report her husband violated an order of protection she has against him in the 700 block of Ivy Lane. Sedalia Police responded to the 700 block of Ivy Lane in reference to a violation of an order of protection Saturday evening. State charges are being requested. Sunday evening, Officers took a report over the phone in reference to a violation of an order of protection in the 700 block of Ivy Lane. The victim stated she was receiving messages via Facebook from a person she had an order of protection against. State charges are being requested.


 

On the evening of April 30th, Officers were dispatched to a theft report in the 200 block of East 2nd Street. Officers were able to locate the missing property reported and return it to the owner.


 

Friday afternoon, Molly Salzar came to the lobby of the Police Department to drop off property she found in the 1200 block of South Prospect Avenue. It has been placed into evidence.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to at heft report. Contact was made with a suspect inside the store. The suspect had been previously given a no-trespass warning from the store. Brandon L. Paxton, 31 of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Burglary in the 1st Degree, Stealing, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Paxton was arrested, then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
