Today (Jan. 29) is the start of the 29th Annual International Blues Competition in Memphis.  Hundreds of blues bands, musicians, and singers will be competing to see who the brightest new stars are in the blues Industry.  This year a couple of acts competing (after winning local competitions) are artists that have played around Sedalia, some of them regularly.

Now this didn’t happen to me…so don’t visualize me when I tell you this story.   A young musician. Songwriter. Performing his heart out. And a pretty girl comes up to him after the show. They talk. She says she’s seen him play a few times and really likes his music. They talk some more. Have a few drinks. They laugh.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to write some postss about just how big and important the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia is, and what role it has played in live music here in Sedalia.
