
Sedalia Parks & Rec to Host Fourth of July Activities
Sedalia Parks & Rec will be hosting a Fourth of July Firecracker Mile, parade, picnic and fireworks display this Friday.
The Firecracker Mile will take place at Liberty Park at 8 p.m. (check-in starts at 7). Cost is $25 each. ($15 for those 12 and under).
There will be a One-Mile Novice Run, a One-Mile Family Run, and a Kid’s 40-yard dash. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each male/female age group for Open and Novice. All one-mile runners will receive a finisher’s medal.

The parade starts at 10 a.m., in downtown Sedalia, and there are 26 entries at this point. Prizes will be awarded to Most Patriotic, Most Original and Most Creative Float.
The picnic will be held 11 a.m., to 1 p.m. at Liberty Park. There will be free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks for the first 500 people in line.
In addition, there will be bounce houses and a performance from Full Moon Band.
Swimming at Liberty Pool will be half price and free for those with military and veterans with ID from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A spectacular fireworks display is scheduled for 9:30 p.m., at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Attendees will not be allowed to set off their own personal fireworks on the fairgrounds, with enforcement by SPD. Two gates will be open – the Main Gate and the Centennial Gate. When leaving the fairgrounds, only right turns will be permitted.
