Beach Boys Covers Collected for ‘Good Vibrations: The Beach Boys Songbook’ CD

Everyone’s happy that the Beach Boys are back in action this summer, and Sony Music Japan want to mark the occasion by offering a brand new tribute collection. ‘Good Vibrations: The Beach Boys Songbook’ is a set of 25 covers of Beach Boys classics performed by artists on the Sony family of labels.

The set ranges from ’60s pop star Petula Clark to singing groups like the Cowsills, ’70s superstar Todd Rundgren and even early ’80s favorites Paul Davis and Melissa Manchester. The Second Disc reports that there are several tracks that receive multiple versions, including ’409,’ ‘Good Vibrations,’ ‘Shut Down,’ and ‘Don’t Worry, Baby.’

The most recent song on the disc was a 1997 cover of ‘Please Let Me Wonder’ done by the King’s Singers with both Mike Love and Bruce Johnston on it, adding that special Beach Boys touch.

The ‘Good Vibrations’ disc is being offered in Japan as a Blu-Spec CD, meaning it’s playable in all CD players. While it’s being packaged and put together in Japan, the set will be available from Amazon as of July 31 and can be pre-ordered here.
