If you spend time in Warrensburg, you know the construction on Maguire Street can be a pain. I'm surprised at how often one direction of the street seems to be closed entirely, forcing folks onto a detour. I'm not surprised, however, about all the people bitching about it on Warrensburg-related Facebook groups; however, when my co-worker Lori showed me this post on The Burg Facebook group, I had to share it.

Someone wrote a humorous post about all the construction on Maguire, posing as Maguire's cousin and personifying the street. Many Warrensburg residents loved the post, embraced it, and played along.  Take a look:

This is a little bit inside Warrensburg. Some townspeople are a little frustrated that the town lost its KFC and wish we could have it back. I'd take a KFC, a Churches or even a Popeye's. Of course, I'd love a QT, too.

I like what the last person wrote: "Warrensburg is such a wonderful, spicy community! PS I love you, Maguire!"

This Facegroup group post showcases some of the spice, self-awareness, and even the incredible sense of humor many Burg residents possess. Of course, some folks, bless their hearts, didn't see the humor, but who needs those stick-in-the-muds, right?

The Rethink Maguire project will be going on for a while, so you better get used to figuring out other ways to get around town. I, for one, hope that Maguire's "cousin" checks in now and then to let us know how Maguire is.

I leave you with this comment, which I think sums up the feelings of many people who checked out this post, including me.
