On June 24, 2022, the United States Supreme Court overturned the historic Roe v Wade decision in 1973 that legalized abortion on demand in all 50 states.

The Dobbs decision on June 24, 2022, returned legal decisions on abortion to the states and their elected representatives.

The “Right to Life of the Unborn Child Act” of 2018 prohibiting abortion except to save the life of the mother went into effect that same day making Missouri one of the first states to ban abortion on demand.

The ”Cheer for Life” commemoration service will begin at noon on June 24th at the Pettis County Courthouse led by local pastors and community leaders. The keynote speaker is Michelle A. Blackwell, an adoptee and an adoptive mother from Branson.

Mrs. Blackwell has worked as a brain trauma nurse, an ICU nurse, and Hospice Nurse. She and her husband founded Hearts Intertwined Ministries which exists to encourage, empower and help transform marriages through a deep personal relationship with God and their spouse.

The event is sponsored by the Sedalia Chapter of Missouri Right to Life, the largest pro-life group in the state of Missouri. Its grassroot members work to protect innocent human life threatened by abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and assisted suicide. Chapters plan and coordinate activities and events to inform and support women and families facing life decisions.
