Gremlin Track Team Qualifies for Class 1 State Competition

The Sacred Heart Gremlins track team has qualified in three events for the MSHSAA Class 1 State Track and Field meet May 17-18 in Jefferson City.

The Class 1 Sectional 4 champion boys 4x800M relay team won with a time of 8:44.69. Relay members include sophomores Logan Howell, Max Van Leer, Jared Owens and senior Jackson Manning.

Senior Jackson Manning advanced to state by placing second in the 1600M run (4:47.44) and 4th in the 800M run (2:05.31).

Sophomore Max Van Leer narrowly missed qualifying for state in the 400M dash -- placing 5th and setting a new school record for the third time this season (52:93). Max also ran a close race in the 200M dash, placing 6th (24.87).

“It was a very warm day in Adrian for this sectional meet where we faced excellent competition,” the coach commented.
