5 Haunted Roads in Missouri That Will Give You Chills
Missouri has its share of eerie roads. I’ve driven down plenty of backcountry stretches that can make you nervous, and one of them is right here in Hannibal.
Prospect Road: The Woman in White
On Prospect Road in St. Louis, drivers have reported seeing a woman walking along the roadside. According to legend, she was killed in a car accident and now haunts the area at night. Witnesses claim she appears dressed in white, standing in the middle of the road or on the shoulder, causing drivers to swerve to avoid her.

Zombie Road’s Ghostly Whispers
Would you dare to drive down Zombie Road in Wildwood? This stretch is infamous for its long history of hauntings. People who walk it at night report hearing footsteps, whispers, and even seeing ghostly figures trailing behind them.
Riverside Drive: Civil War Spirits
Closer to home, Riverside Drive in Hannibal is said to be haunted by Civil War soldiers and victims of river accidents. Some people have claimed to see figures dressed in Civil War uniforms and to hear mysterious voices. I’ll admit—I might walk this road during the day, but not at night.

Then there’s Crybaby Hollow near Troy. Local legend says the road is haunted by the cries of a baby, which can sometimes be heard echoing through the woods. Strange noises are often reported in the area, making this one road I’ll personally avoid at all costs.
Would You Dare Drive on These Roads?
Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, these stories add an extra layer of creepiness to Missouri’s backroads. The question is—would you dare drive, walk, or even run them at night and see for yourself what others claim to have experienced?
