We’re finally getting a sneak peek inside the world’s largest indoor sports facility in Illinois, and to no one’s surprise, it looks amazing.

What’s Inside the SCHEELS Sports Park Dome

Inside the SCHEELS Sports Park Outdoor Facility Dome in Springfield, Illinois, there’s enough space for six full-sized basketball courts, twelve volleyball courts, a multipurpose 350x280 turf field, two softball fields, and five batting cages. And that’s just the indoor portion.

The outdoor facilities will feature eight multipurpose lighted turf fields, two championship fields with stadium seating and video boards, and The Yard—a 27,000-square-foot event space perfect for those championship celebrations.

For all of you who travel for sports, this place is going to be on your radar starting in November when the facility officially opens to the public.

The Future of Sports in Quincy

There’s hope for us here in Quincy, though. Work and plans are already being discussed for a multi-sports facility of our own. It won’t be quite this big, but the goal is to bring more tournaments to the area, which means more people spending money at local restaurants, hotels, and shops—and I’m sure that’s something many sports parents can get excited about.
