Missouri Zoo Welcomes Precious Baby Giraffe for Christmas
It’s always special when someone new enters the world. It’s a special kind of joy. When that new life arrives at a zoo it’s extra unique. At Christmas time it's seems magical!
The Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri welcomed baby “Gelner” (!!!) December 17th. The calf’s name comes from a previous president of the “Friends of the Zoo” board Mark Gelner.
“Gelner” and mother “Emma” are doing well and will be a big hit at the zoo. The Giraffe feeding deck is also a popular feature at the zoo in Springfield, Mo.
This wasn’t the only blessing the Dickerson Park Zoo has experienced this season. Last month the zoo greeted three cheetah cubs, who haven’t been named yet. There will be a contest early in January 2025 to name the two boys and one girl cub.
