Mysterious Black Big Cat Reported in Northeast Missouri

There's a brand new sighting of a legendary large black cat that's just happened in northeast Missouri including a very specific location of where it was spotted.

UPDATE: To be clear, we're not reporting there's a black panther in Macon County, Missouri. We're sharing that many are claiming they're seeing a black panther in Macon County. Also, this is not the first time these black big cats have been reported in the state as there were many in the Missouri Ozarks years ago that said they saw what they believed was a black panther. The claim of black panthers in Macon County, Missouri are not new either as there were reports a couple years ago of a big black cat roaming the woods there.

ORIGINAL STORY: I just saw this interesting report shared on the Missouri sub-Reddit. The person said "Jungle cat spotted a second time" saying it happened near Calloa, Missouri.

"Driving on highway and saw a roughly 130-150 lb black jungle cat of some sort. Between callao and the river. Second time in two years and the other one I thought was definitely bigger. 100 yards off highway in gully. Last time he was at the top stalking something. People in multiple cars saw it. 3 people total."

If you're not familiar with Callao, Missouri, it's located in Macon County. Based on what they described, this would be the approximate location of this big black cat sighting.

Several people in the comments added their own encounters and a description of what they believe this person saw. Many say they believe it is a black panther-like cat while others say the person must have seen a skinny bear. Here's one of the first comments:

"It's the Callao beast! Great big black panther lives in the woods west of town, usually spotted just north of the highway, sometimes eats fresh road-killed deer."

The Missouri Department of Conservation and other wildlife experts claim there is no such thing as a black panther in Missouri no matter what the eyewitnesses say. That begs the question of what exactly so many say they are seeing in northeast Missouri. Even a black bear this far to the north in the state would be big news. A real black panther report that could be confirmed would be unprecedented.
