Illinois Hunter Spooked When Woods Go Dead Quiet

When you're in the backcountry of Illinois, you expect certain sounds of nature. That's why one Illinois hunter in his deer stand was spooked when suddenly all the animals and natural sounds suddenly went dead quiet and he knew something was wrong.

A new report from Rapids City, Illinois has just been shared to the National UFO Reporting Center site

The NUFORC site says this encounter just happened a few days ago on Sunday, November 2, 2025 to the northeast of the Quad Cities area in Illinois. Here are the exact words of the hunter as shared with NUFORC:

"In deer standing hunting, directional air movement from south to north at top of trees. Could not see anything sky was clear. Right after all animals, birds, squirrels, etc went silent, woods were dead calm and heavy fog rolled in"

The hunter said he felt air movement and heard a strange sound from overhead, but did not see the object which had caused all of the animals to go silent. He estimates he was within 50 feet of it and said the animals reacted to the sound of whatever it was. He also said that it moved faster than a Cessna plane which would rule out a large drone although that's still the most likely explanation if it's a known craft. If it is a drone, it's not legal for it to be flown close enough to wildlife to spook them. If it wasn't a drone, then we're dealing with something extraordinary.
