As of the date of this writing, we're now almost a dozen days from the time when that person stepped into that store and picked up this winning ticket without coming forward to claim their prize. That means there's a better than average chance they don't realize yet that they have the winning ticket. As every day goes by, that increases the chance that the ticket will get misplaced and lost.
