This is one of the best times all year to be a sky watcher. We are in the middle of multiple meteor showers and a backyard camera in Missouri captured several as they streaked overhead.

If you don't already, this is another great reason to follow Missouri Skies on YouTube. Dan Bush is the photographer that manages that channel and he frequently uploads near sky events over the Albany, Missouri area. According to the time stamps on his video, these big space rocks were captured during the late night hours of July 27, 2025.

What meteor showers were these fireballs over Missouri a part of?

According to the American Meteor Society, we are in the middle of several seasonal meteor showers right now including the Southern delta Aquariids, the alpha Capricornids and the Perseids. The Aquarids and Capricornids are peaking on July 29 and July 30 which means this week is ideal for sky watching if you'd love to see meteors. The Perseids will be peaking in mid-August.

By the way, Dan Bush often looks for the Northern Lights when they're far enough south to be visible over Missouri, too.

That's why it's vital to follow Missouri Skies on YouTube if you enjoy fun space events over the Show Me State.
