Cultural Divide? Controversial Group Heads to Missouri
I have this crazy belief that everyone is entitled to their own worldview even if it disagrees with mine. That approach will be put to the test as a very controversial group has announced plans to expand into Missouri.
The IndependentThe HillIs a "culturally exclusive" community in Missouri even legal?
The article quotes one of their leaders as saying "The attorneys we’ve consulted believe what we’re doing is legal,". I've looked at their official site and found this mission statement:
"We seek to create a decentralized movement, formed of various individuals and societies returning to the land. We will promote strong families with common ancestry, and raise the next generation in an environment that reflects our traditional values. We will facilitate economic and social harmony between all groups and individuals in our movement. Above all, we will continue to engage in a never-ending pursuit of excellence, refusing to lower our standards or lose sight of our goals."
Any community that is designed to be racially exclusive will be controversial no matter if it's in Missouri or not. I am a live and let live type of person and don't believe in imposing my worldview on anyone else, but my guess is there will be legal challenges to what Return to the Land are envisioning. Let's hope that whatever the outcome is will be peaceful and not harm anyone.
