Experts ranked the best cities in the US for a staycation this summer and Missouri has three towns near the top of the list! Here are the details you need to know...

The experts at WalletHub released a new list called Best & Worst Cities for Staycations 2024, and Missouri has three cities that all rank well! St. Louis is the highest-ranking city from Missouri on the list coming in at 11th, it outranks places like Denver, NYC, and Houston. Springfield, MO, follows St. Louis on the list at 26th, and then Kansas City also ranks the list 68th, which seems low but Wallethub ranked 182 of the most populated cities in the US for this list, so 68th is top 3rd.

What exactly is a staycation? According to Wikipedia, a staycation is "... a period in which an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities within day trip distance of their home and does not require overnight accommodation." The top cities for a staycation in the US this year are Orlando, Honolulu, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Tampa, and Chicago. The article also mentions how St. Louis is #1 in the US for Zoos and Aquariums per capita, and to see the full list of staycation destinations for yourself, click here!

Did they get it right?

I think this list NAILED it, not only for Missouri, but for the top of the list as well. St. Louis is a GREAT day trip city, we all know here in the Quincy/Hannibal area that taking day trips to St. Louis to go see a show, go to a game, go to a Museum or Zoo, whatever is super easy and fun. Springfield obviously makes the list because of the Lake and Branson, KC during the summer has plenty to offer people for quick trips. I also think that having Honolulu, Orlando, Las Vegas, and Chicago near the top of this list gives this list a ton of credibility, they got the top of the list right.
