Chick-fil-A has announced it will be building a restaurant here in Sedalia soon.

The site for the new restaurant will be the former site of American Freight on West Highway 50 (across from Freddy’s and Panera). That building has since been demolished.

“We look forward to working through the approval process with the City of Sedalia and are excited by the prospect of joining the community,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement provided by the City. “We hope to have the opportunity to serve new guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality and care.”

Mayor Andrew Dawson noted that “Sedalia’s appetite for Chick-fil-A is about to be satisfied. I’m thrilled to share that the national restaurant chain, famous for its Original Chicken Sandwich and signature waffle fries, has confirmed plans to open a new location at 3200 West Broadway.”

Construction is already under way and the anticipation across our community is incredible, Mayor Dawson said. “For years, residents have hoped to see Chick-fil-A plants roots here, and now that dream is becoming a reality.”

An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

Chick-fil-A currently has over 3,000 restaurants nationwide.

Chick-fil-A's total U.S. systemwide sales in 2024 were $22.7 billion, a 5.4% increase from 2023, which is notable as it makes the company one of only three restaurant chains in the U.S. to surpass $20 billion in sales, according to Nation's Restaurant News and QSR Magazine.
