
Officer Involved Shooting in Camden County Prompts MSHP Investigation
At the request of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred in Camdenton.
The preliminary investigation revealed on Friday, Oct 25 at 2:30 a.m., officers and deputies from the Camdenton Police Department and Camden County Sheriff's Office responded to 95 Third Street, in Camdenton, in response to a 911 call indicating a deceased body was located at the residence.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene and Matthew D. MacDonald, 28, Camdenton, exited the residence armed with a rifle.

Deputies attempted to negotiate with MacDonald and gave verbal commands to drop the firearm. MacDonald failed to comply, and a Camden County deputy fired his duty rifle, striking MacDonald. MacDonald was taken into custody and medical treatment was provided on scene.
Emergency medical services personnel transported MacDonald to an area hospital for further medical treatment. No other injuries were reported, and it was determined that there was not a deceased body at the scene as initially reported.
