Smith-Cotton High School senior Jennifer Bowman has accepted an athletic scholarship
to play softball at Stephens College in Columbia.

Bowman is a three-year letter winner who also earned honors as the W-K Athlete of the
Week and the Bryan Jenkins State Farm Athlete of the Week.

S-C Softball Head Coach Amy Miller said: “Jennifer Bowman is an asset to any program
that she chooses to become a part of. She is a hand worker, she is dedicated and will do whatever it takes to succeed in playing the game of softball for her team. Bowman is a strong defender in multiple positions, and she has a very quick throw that will be helpful in defense. She will be a player who will go on and do great things for the sport of softball."

Stephens College Softball Head Coach Clint Poulsen said Bowman’s versatility was a big factor in bringing her into his program.

“There are a couple of things that I am really impressed with; one is her energy on the
field and off the field. I think that is really important at the college level, to bring good
energy day in and day out,” Poulsen said. “The other thing is she definitely is a utility
player. She can play all nine positions on the field. … I don’t know where she is going to
play but I think that she is definitely going to help our program in a lot of different ways.
We are looking forward to having her on campus next fall.”
