Missouri Director of Ag Chinn Speaks at ‘Ag Forward’
Missouri Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn was the guest speaker for Ag Forward, a three-part series of presentations being offered this spring at State Fair Community College.
Thursday night's presentation took place at the Thompson Conference Center on the SFCC campus, and was attended by about 70 people, including local producers, SFCC Aggies, ag instructors and Ag Program Director Brad Driskill.
The free meal at the event, catered by Great Western Dining, was sponsored by Central Bank of Sedalia.
The entire event was offered at no cost to attendees who are interested in agriculture.
Central Bank Commercial and Ag Loan Officer Tim Noland moderated the event, and offered his thoughts on Thursday night's program:
“We're just so thankful Director Chris Chinn came to share her evening with us. She's a tremendous leader in agriculture. She's a relentless advocate for agriculture. So it's so cool to have her here in Sedalia, Missouri, at SFCC talking to our community and our students here at SFCC,” Noland told KSIS.
Noland referred to the class of State Fair Aggies as “our next generation of agriculture and it's really good for them to be able to hear our high-quality speakers we're getting. They're so knowledgeable and passionate about agriculture and I think it's just a good deal all the way around.”
Commercial Banking and Marketing Assistant Adrienn Dieckman said she was expecting a huge turnout for Chris Chinn's appearance and she was not disappointed.
Chinn delivered a 36-minute speech on a variety of topics, followed by a 20-minute Q & A session with the audience.
The bank sponsored three Ag Forward programs last fall and they were so successful, that three more were added to the spring lineup. Three more are scheduled for this fall.
The last monthly program for spring of 2024 will take place Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the Heckart Science & Allied Health Center on the SFCC campus.
Davin Althoff, director of marketing and commodities for Missouri Farm Bureau, will be the guest speaker.
The event is free of charge, but you will need to RSVP Brad Driskill at bdriskill@sfccmo.edu or at any Central Bank of Sedalia location.
