Some Missouri Places Could Get Hammered with 5 Inches of Rain
After several days of severe weather in Missouri, there's more to come including the possibility that some places in Missouri could get a dump of up to 5 inches of rain in just the next few days.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri has advisories about the potential for severe storms early this next week starting Monday. From Sunday, May 18 through Tuesday, May 21, parts of northern Missouri could see up to 5 inches of rain.
NOAA's Weather Prediction Center agrees and shows a more detailed map of what parts of Missouri could see that massive rain total. The redder the map, the more rain that can be expected.
If you extend the outlook for the full week, you'll see that most of Missouri is going to see large rain amounts.
Will this heavy rain cause flooding in Missouri?
The National Weather Service in Missouri says that most of the rain that's incoming will be beneficial, but there is the possibility of flash flooding events in some parts of the state. That's why they advise making sure you have the ability to get weather warnings if rain does cause flooded roads and/or bridges.
