Some people think that storm chasers are those who take unnecessary risks and/or sensationalize tragedy. That was not the case for a couple of storm chasers who were recently chasing a Missouri twister, but ended up being the first on the scene to help a truck driver who was hit by the tornado.

High Risk Chris just shared this interesting chase he completed during the middle of March near Rolla, Missouri. He was driving up I-44 when he noticed on radar that a tornado was likely straight ahead of him. He was right.

Here's how Chris described what happened that night:

"On March 14, 2025 I was chasing a highly potent storm system along I-44 in Missouri. As I was driving, a tornado formed in front of me, tossing a truck, requiring me to help him since I was the first one on the scene."

Another storm chaser named Ryan also stopped to check on the condition of the trucker.

"I ran and opened the door to begin assisting the trucker who was clearly shaken up by what had happened...when I first entered the truck, he was screaming telling me that his chest hurt...I told him he was hit by a tornado...and then I gave him a quick visual check making sure he didn't have any serious injuries. He wasn't bleeding or showing any signs of obvious trauma."

Both chasers were able to calm down the truck driver who confirmed that he was alright. They then continued their pursuit of the tornado that caused damage near Rolla that night. This is one of the best examples of how storm chasers can sometimes also be rescuers when they have access to victims before even first responders can help those in need.
