We all know that Thanksgiving is just aabout a week or so  away.

It's one of the biggest food weeks of the year, and we all have our favorite dishes we look forward to for the big Thanksgiving meal.

However, the question is, what don’t you want? Is there something that always ends up on the table that you can’t stand? Is there a dish you dislike but eat anyway to seem grateful?

For me, I can do without the green beans. If they are fresh, I might enjoy them, but those canned, mushy ones? No, thank you! No amount of cheese or bacon can make them appealing to me. I'm also not a big fan of egg noodles. Again, it’s a texture issue—they're slimy, mushy, and just bland. And I really don’t like pecan pie either. I know many people enjoy it, but it’s just not for me, so I’ll happily pass.

But the worst one I've ever heard of?  The one I just had one bite of and have never even bothered to try it again? OYSTER DRESSING.

Yes, apparently this is a thing. People WILLINGLY put oysters into their stuffing. Why this is a thing, I have no idea. It just won't be a thing on my plate.  I did some reading after I started my recovery from the after affects of eating it once.  And turns out, it's totally England's fault. The British brought the tradition of oyster stuffing to the colonies. In 1685, a British cookbook mentioned stuffing poultry or fish with oysters. Since oysters were everywhere (and extremely cheap) in the New World, they were used by the poor or laborers to stretch their  meat rations.

So really, since they were doing this out of necessity, it only seems right that we shouldn't punish ourselves by continuing to have this dish, right?  Right.

Now it’s your turn! Share what dishes you don’t want to see at your Thanksgiving dinner!

Oysterly yours,
Behka
