Sacred Heart Soccer Victorious Over Stover, 4-2
The Sacred Heart Gremlins soccer team beat Stover 4-2 Tuesday evening at Clover Dell Park.
Senior George Bain assisted senior Jackson Manning for the only goal scored in the first half.
Both teams came out of the halftime break energized and ready for aggressive play. About 9 minutes into the second half, Jackson Manning assisted George Bain. The Gremlins were leading 2-0 when Jackson scored a header off a corner kick executed by junior Josh Pacheco. Sacred Heart scored their fourth goal with just under 15 minutes left to play when Jackson Manning sent a scorcher past the Bulldog goalie.
Stover worked desperately to get on the scoreboard before the game ended. Despite a valiant effort in goal from senior Vlad Lopez, the Bulldogs scored with just over 10 minutes to play and again with 1:51 left in the contest.
Sacred Heart travels to Springfield to play Greenwood this Friday, Sept. 29.
