I'd be inclined to tell you to head to St. Louis for the best prime rib you'll ever eat, but since I haven't tried it yet, I'll refrain from calling it the best, especially since I'm a big fan of the 25-ounce prime rib at Jack Gibbons Garden in the Chicago suburbs. Yet Kreis' Steakhouse & Bar in St. Louis might just beat it.

Only In Your State wrote a whole article on Kreis' prime rib dishes about a year ago. They write, "This charming steakhouse offers bone-in and boneless prime rib, which comes paired with a scrumptious side, certain to leave you feeling satisfied. Locals love this place and consider it some of the best prime rib in St. Louis."

Let's get down to it. Kreis's website declares itself "St. Louis' Best Steakhouse." It then calls its prime rib "world famous" and the restaurant itself a "Missouri Landmark."

Regarding prime rib, you have three choices on Kreis' menu—the Prime Rib of Beef Queen Cut, which is 12 ounces and boneless. The Prime Rib of Beef King Cut, which is 32 ounces and a bone-in cut. And finally, the Prime Rib of Beef Extra Cut, 64 ounces of beef and a bone-in cut.

Kreis' Sunday Night Special is a three-course meal featuring the Queen Cut Prime Rib as the star on Sunday evenings. The meal includes a salad, prime rib with au jus and creamy horseradish, your choice of side, and a dessert, either Amaretto Cheesecake or Apple Strudel. As of this writing, the cost is $55, a dine-in-only offer. When ordering to get the deal, you must mention the special to the server.

Kreis's prime rib is certified Angus Beef. All the cuts come with au jus, creamy horseradish, and your choice of potato and vegetable.

Like any excellent steak house, it offers a variety of steaks and chops, along with Filet Mignon, Vienna Schnitzel, and Marinated Chicken. It also offers a variety of sides, including Kreis' Special Double Baked Potato, fresh asparagus, broccoli, German Potato Pancakes with applesauce, and more.

The appetizer list includes shrimp, scallops, tuna, crabcakes, fried mushrooms, and toasted ravioli, a St. Louis delicacy. Dessert is going to be a tough choice. Do you get their homemade Key Lime Pie, the homemade Amaretto Cheesecake with Lorna Doone crust, or the Kreis family recipe Warm Apple Strudel made with Granny Smith apples?
