It's been a challenging year for Big Lots after they've closed hundreds of stores and it doesn't appear they're done yet. Today, it was revealed that they are shuttering 50 more stores permanently and that includes a major one in Illinois.
This has been one of the most difficult years in recent memory (2020 not withstanding) for food establishments. Hooters is no exception as they have suddenly shut the doors on numerous locations across America including 3 in Missouri and 1 in Illinois.
It's not completely unexpected, but still sad that Big Lots announced today that they're closing more than 300 stores and I've confirmed that includes a half dozen locations in Missouri.
There was big chatter a few years ago about how Gamestop was planning to close hundreds of stores, but then that discussion stopped being a news item. However, I've learned that the company has rather quietly closed several Illinois and Missouri locations recently with little fanfare.

Well, this came out of nowhere. A major apparel retailer has suddenly declared bankruptcy and announced it would close 100 stores and that includes Missouri locations although the exact number in the state is uncertain.
It's been a disturbing trend so far in 2024 where many Missouri restaurants have shut their doors forever. Chili's has just joined that group by closing a Missouri location and reports say that many more are to follow.
