Remember Those Lost In Vietnam; Traveling Wall Coming To The ‘Burg
The Veterans Assistance League and the Warrensburg Convention and Visitors Bureau are helping bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute traveling Vietnam Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute from Texas to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg from Sunday, August 18, 2024, through Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Noon.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute will bring their traveling Vietnam Wall and Cost of Freedom Tribute from Texas, escorted by the National Legacy Riders. They are expected to arrive at the Missouri Veterans Home at about 8:20 AM CDT. The National Legacy Riders will lap around the Home's fire lane with their 200 to 300 bikes before visiting with the Home's veterans.
A welcoming ceremony for the Traveling Wall will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Sunday. American Legion Post 230 out of Stockton will present the colors, Lauren Vesecky will sing the National Anthem, and a resident of the Missouri Veterans Home will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Brittany Walter will keynote the ceremony. Warrensburg Mayor Bruce Uhler will read a proclamation from the City of Warrensburg, a 3 Valley Salute followed by TAPS will be performed by the American Legion & VFW Honor Guard, and the Supervisor of Volunteer Services, Latisha Koetting will present the Gold Star Family Dedication.
The welcoming ceremony is not open to the public. However, once it has concluded, the wall will be open for public visitation and contemplation. The ceremony is expected to end around 3:00 PM CDT.

Sunday, August 18, 2024 - 3:00 - 7:00 PM CDT.
Monday, August 19, 2024 - 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM CDT.
Tuesday, August 20, 2024 - 7:00 AM - Noon CDT.
On Monday, the focus of the day is to bring the life of the fallen by sharing their stories. Over 50 stories of fallen soldiers from Johnson, Pettis, Henry, Saline, and Lafayette Counties have been collected. They will be shared throughout three reading sessions to hear what these great men did for us and our freedom. Reading sessions will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, and 5:30 PM -6:30 PM CDT.
