Whiskey Hunters – These Mid Missouri Distilleries Are Beckoning
Whiskey hunters across the region will travel hundreds of miles for high end whiskey. While the bourbon trail in Kentucky is a special treat, there are quality spirits and distilleries in the Show-me state.
Take some time to map out your own trail of distilleries this fall in Missouri, but don’t miss these Mid-Mo locations to grab something especially Missouri! Then get a bottle for your friends out of state to gift later this year.

Hop on 36 west of Hannibal to find Sweetwater and their special line of Jimmy Red corn spirits (Whiskey, Vodka and Bourbon). You can also order up savory eats with to go with their sweet cocktails.
Six Mile Distillery – Columbia
Just off North College in Columbia, stop in to Six Mile for a tour and some tasting of their Slick Whistle Straight Bourbon. It’s smoky, sweet with a hint of nuttiness. Have it neat for sipping of mix it up. Worth the visit!

There are many gems here. With small batches you’ll want to visit regularly to make sure you get the good stuff!
Copper Mule Distillery – Hermann
There’s more to Hermann than wine. Don’t miss a visit to Copper Mule for the taste of rural Missouri corn, wheat and barley. The 1893 is wheated as is the JD Select and the Arminius Rye adds a little spice. Plus they have seasonal special spirits to find.
Black Shire Distillery – Hermann
Also based out of Hermann on the corner of 1st street and Gutenberg you’ll find the stately Black Shire. Their cask strength bourbon is a single barrel at 124.5 proof…(!!!) They also have a Sour Cherry Whiskey and a couple different Gin’s. Prost!
There are many Missouri distilleries to visit, but these mid-mo establishments are memorable.
