Whittier High School teacher Jennie Guerrini is the recipient of the Superintendent’s Bell Ringer Award for March.

The monthly award is a way for Superintendent Steve Triplett to honor
Sedalia 200 staff members who put the district’s mission statement into
action and those who display exemplary effort in celebrating student
success. Winners are selected from nominations made by staff members
and administrators.

Guerrini’s nominator wrote: “Ms. G has worked at Whittier for 20+ years and
at Night School for the past 12. During this time, she has gone above and
beyond what normal expectations for teachers are. She provides a safe
environment for her students not only to learn but to feel comfortable enough
to discuss their personal problems with her privately. Ms. G is always
teaching and reteaching so that her students will be successful, but strives
for them to grow as a person. She works hard to develop those connections
with her students and it pays off with how we see each student grow and
mature throughout the year. Her heart and soul are in education and
specifically Whittier. She is invested in what Whittier stands for and
represents that every day to her peers as well as her students."

Triplett said, “Ms. G is such an advocate for her students. She is an integral
part of the Whittier High family and her dedication, compassion and
professionalism help her students reach that goal of graduation. She is proof
that investing in your students helps build their success."

Other nominees for February were: Mary Holsten, Parkview Elementary; Ali
Burkholder, Michelle Wolfe and Lindsey Henry, Heber Hunt Elementary;
Sarah Miller, Washington Elementary; Misty Tow, Fran Cunningham and Lisa
Young, Smith-Cotton Junior High; Kristy Bullock and Shelley Lutjen, Sedalia
Middle School; Ann Cave, Skyline Elementary; and Amy Miller, Rhonda
Enrietto and Marcy Cash, Smith-Cotton High School.
