Sedalia Police Reports for January 24, 2024

Monday evening, Officers received a call regarding a disturbance at the Rest Haven Convalescent Home, 1800 South Ingram Avenue. Officers spoke with Morgan Carlson and a subject involved. The report was made for documentation purposes.

Early Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Ohio Avenue in reference to reports of a person in the roadway. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the subject, who was highly intoxicated. Sarita Linda Leon, 61, of Sedalia, was taken into protective custody. Leon was transported to the Pettis County Jail, to be placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on an SUV for a lane violation near West 16th Street and South State Fair Boulevard Tuesday night. During the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driving status and a warrant for his arrest. Luis Daniel Santiago Garcia, 49, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and his Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County dating from August 2023 on another charge of Driving While Suspended. Garcia was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a $250 cash only bond on the warrant.

Tuesday evening, Officers observed a highly intoxicated male stumbling in the area of East 4th Street and South Lamine Avenue. The subject was trying to flag down vehicles. His speech was slurred to the point of being indecipherable, and it appeared he had urinated on himself. Jesse Robert Smith, 56, Homeless, was placed into protective custody. Smith was transported to the BRHC for a fit for confinement check, then placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Limit Avenue Tuesday afternoon in regards to a subject check. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with several intoxicated individuals and checked their information with Dispatch. One of the subjects, Joseph Henry Hendrix, 45, Homeless, had a warrant for his arrest stemming from an incident on January 9th. At the time, Deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's Office investigated a trespassing call in the 600 block of East Boonville Street. In that incident, Hendrix was allegedly walking around the property and had spoken to one of the residents, and was asked to leave. When asked to leave, Hendrix kept asking "But why do I have to leave?" There were multiple signs around the property warning against trespassing. The home owner told Hendrix that "wandering around people's property will get him shot", and noted to Deputies that he could see footprints in the snow all around his house, as well as more leading to the garage. Deputies made contact with Hendrix, and he claimed he was looking for a car he had let the owners borrow, but could not describe the vehicle nor could he remember the names of the people who had allegedly borrowed it. Ten days later (01/19/2024), a warrant was issued for Hendrix's arrest on a charge of Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Hendrix was placed under arrest, and booked in at the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $1500.

Tuesday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the Break Time store, 808 East Broadway Boulevard, in regards to a theft. The manager stated a subject came into the store and took several items without paying for them. The suspect was known to both the employees and law enforcement. Stealing charges have been submitted to the prosecutor.
