April 2016 New Music Releases
The slate of April 2016 new music releases begins with Cheap Trick, whose Bang Zoom Crazy ... Hello represents both their first album since 2009's The Latest and their first since Rick Nielsen's son Daxx took over for drummer Bun E. Carlos. And that's just the beginning, as the month promises plenty of cool sounds.
Santana have reunited with most of their classic-era lineup, while Ace Frehley is once again paired with former Kiss bandmate Paul Stanley for one track from Frehley's new album. And Graham Nash releases his first solo disc since 2002 – just after announcing the end of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Similarly, a new disc by Sixx:A.M. fills the void for Nikki Sixx now that Motley Crue have left the road.
Live projects include Lynyrd Skynyrd's Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin’nérd and Second Helping performed in their entirety; a Motorhead date in Rio De Janeiro from 2011; Rainbow at Donington in 1980; and a pair of Bad Company dates from their classic '70s era, among others.
Meanwhile, the schedule of classic rock reissues features Derek and the Dominos' Layla and Derek and the Dominos in Concert; Deep Purple's Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band; Phil Collins' No Jacket Required and Testify; and Foghat's Bearsville-era albums. Then there's Metallica's huge reexaminations of early favorites Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning.
That's to say nothing of the avalanche of tasty stuff associated with the annual Record Store Day.
More information on these and other classic-rock releases can be found below. And remember to look at our updated list of 2016 New Music Releases for details on music issued throughout the year.
