One of the safest colleges is in Missouri, and you've probably never heard of it. That's because this college of higher learning is the home of osteopathic medicine and the first osteopathic university. It's a place you probably haven't heard of unless you live in Kirksville or plan on getting into medicine.

I'm talking about A.T. Still University, founded by Andrew Taylor Still, DO., in 1892 as the first college focused on osteopathic healthcare. It's also the Missouri University with no felonies since 2013 and only three crimes since 2013, making it the safest college campus in Missouri. This is according to data gathered by Check Video, using data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

For those who don't know, Osteopathic.org says that osteopathic medicine is a whole-person approach to health that prevents illness and injury. Physicians practicing Osteopathic Medicine are trained to look beyond symptoms to understand how lifestyle and the environment impact our well-being. Doctors of osteopathic medicine practice using the latest science and technology, but they also consider options to complement pharmaceuticals and surgery.

According to their website, A.T. Still University in Kirksville "Is renowned for its preeminence as a multidisciplinary healthcare educator. The University is focused on integrating the founding tenets of osteopathic medicine and the advancing knowledge of today's science."

Regarding safety, the Kirksville campus is one of the safest university campuses in Missouri and the United States. No criminal offenses or crimes rising to a felony have occurred on the University's campus since 2013.

Additionally, since 2013, A.T. Still University has only had three lesser crimes (not rising to a felony).

Of course, A.T. Still, when it comes to institutions of higher learning, is relatively small. According to the numbers put together by Check Video, only 3,723 students attend class at the University. Not to mention, Kirksville itself only has a population of 17,530 people. While this is an excellent safety record, Kirksville's other University, Truman State, has seen 43 criminal offenses, 24 robberies and burglaries, and 14 crimes of violence against women.
