Bottom Line: Actually Angry Enough at Netflix to Sue?
Can I start here with just a little disclaimer - I don't think I personally really have a dog in this fight. I'm not sure I'm super het up about it.
I'm talking about the big Netflix event this past weekend, with the big boxing event on Netflix. Were you locked out of the Mike Tyson / Jake Paul fight because Netflix was completely unprepared to handle the amount of streams that it should have totally expected?
Luckily, you didn't miss ANYTHING even remotely exciting. Well, in the Paul/Tyson fight that is. The ladies were kicking each other's butts, that was kinda metal. But you didn't know that. Because you couldn't watch the stream, because it kept dying, right? Right. NJ didn't know that either, and he was really mad about it. Well, not like, irrationally mad about it. But like, cussin mad. He was cursing the stream over and over, and had to exit out of the app and start again several times.
But then, so were a lot of you. I was only kind of watching. I was sitting in my chair listening while reading some Reddit or something. But overall, having to start the stream over from the beginning multiple times because too many people were watching, was a huge problem. NJ was hoppin mad because we pay for that service, right? They had to know their viewership would be higher than normal...but they didn't prepare enough.
Well, there's something you can do about it.
Netflix has acknowledged that SOME members had a bad experience, but they still consider the event a huge success. Sure. I don't know if I consider lagging, crashing, and terrible streaming quality that looks like 144p is a success, but.... I'm not mad enough to sue.
What about you? Did you watch it? What did you think? What about the Netflix issues, did you have problems?
Fightingly yours,
Behka
