The Forecast: Cold Chiefs Victory At Arrowhead Saturday
While we're enjoying a little warm-up today and tomorrow, the weather won't be as lovely on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the Chiefs game. My prediction is a very cold Chiefs victory.
Since I started checking the high temperature for Kansas City earlier this week, I've only seen it trending in the wrong direction. After checking multiple forecasts, I found none more suitable for Chiefs fans than another.
Our forecaster, Weatherology, predicts cloudy skies with a few sun rays, a high of around 23, and winds of eight to 15 miles per hour. That mirrors the forecast from the National Weather Service, although they add in wind gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. The more favorable forecast from AccuWeather says it will be 25 in Kansas City on Saturday. They predict wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour, and their Real Feel product says it will feel like 11 or 8 in the shade. So, more favorable? Not really.
Yet, it's still better than last year's playoff game vs. the Miami Dolphins on January 13, 2024. With a kick-off temperature of -4 and wind chills of -27, this game set the record for the coldest game at Arrowhead Stadium and the fourth coldest game in NFL history.
I asked Chatgpt to provide guidelines for dressing if you're going to the Chiefs game on Saturday. It gathered information from Wired, Phish.net, Pens.com, and (don't kill me) Two Bills Drive for its suggestions.
To stay warm at a football game in the 20s with 30-mile-per-hour wind gusts, Chatgpt suggests dressing in layers. Start with moisture-wicking thermal underwear, add insulating layers like fleece or wool, and finish with a windproof and waterproof coat and pants. Once the basics are covered, insulated gloves, a hat, and a scarf are recommended for extra protection, along with waterproof boots and warm socks. Chatgpt also suggests bringing a blanket, hand warmers, and a thermos for hot drinks.

It will be cold, maybe on the colder side of "football weather" for the game on Saturday, but if you dress for it, you should be OK. At least it won't be the fourth coldest game in NFL history. You're a badass if you were at that one, like my girlfriend and her brother.
Stay warm, and go Chiefs! If you're not going to the game and in the Sedalia / Knob Noster area, you can get the home team call from the Chiefs Radio Network on Mix 92.3!
