Competitive Missouri Fun Idea – Go Kart Challenge

One of the things from my youth that has stuck with me was coming up with fun things for my cousins and I to do over summer break. This usually involved us competing against each other in any manner of activities.

Basketball, Pool, Ping Pong, Tennis, Swimming, Waterslide times, Mini Golf, Batting cages, etc. you get the idea. Whatever I could convince them to engage in we turned into something competitive. If it was a successful endeavor (meaning—that we had a good time) we would do it again the following summer.

We weren’t blessed with a local go-kart track near us, but if we traveled to Branson, there were. We never turned that into a thing, although looking at it now. We should have.

Missouri has a gaggle of go-kart tracks of varying sizes and surfaces. Indoor and outdoor. This provides an amazing opportunity to put together a summer time Show-me Go-Kart tour complete with a points system and a summer championship.

Whether you start in Branson or Osage Beach there are several tracks to race. Don’t just choose one. Pick several to race. Work out the details amongst your crew. Do you take a day to get acclimated to all the different tracks and karts? Do you just do a few practice laps before you line up and go? Do you start based on rankings? It’s all up to you. Have fun with it.

If you spend a couple weeks in either location it’s easy to map this out. The trick is if you want to expand out. Those two locations have the most go-kart tracks in the state, so whether you start in one or the other, you’ll get the most racing in those two locations.

Yes, you could build competition to include St. Louis or Kansas City. Both those places have a few tracks. Don’t forget to map out a tie-breaker. At a track you’ve already raced, or a completely different one, say in Rolla or St. Joseph.

Missouri has much to offer the amateur go-kart fun racer. Race for the memories that will no doubt chase your family, friends, or even co-workers with all the tracks in Missouri this summer.
