We've been giving away a lot of concert tickets lately, so now's a good time to discuss concert etiquette. Rolling Stone just did a article on the ten most annoying things people do at concerts, big or small.

I especially agree with numbers two, three and five:

  • Checking e-mail, Facebook and Twitter every couple of minutes.
  • Incessantly talking to your friends.
  • Yelling out "Freebird!"

I have never understood people who pay good money for tickets to see a show, and then stand around and talk during the whole show.  I like music! I want to hear music! I could give a rats behind about your dietary supplement needs, SO SHUT UP!  A couple of years ago I went to see Heart, and my so-called friends standing around me just kept yapping yap yap yap. I finally just moved away from them so I could enjoy the show in my own little world.

I go to a lot of shows in small clubs, and I watch people sitting in the front row or two constantly texting or checking their email or Facebook.  How RUDE.  If I was the entertainer on stage, I would be so annoyed with that.  Take your picture, post it to Facebook, let everyone know that you are at a cool show and then put it away!  If Trampled Under Foot is on stage and Danielle is singing, the only person I want talking to me is the waitress asking me if I need another drink.

Finally, there is always that one guy who thinks he is so funny by calling out, "Play Freebird!" Stop! It's not cute anymore.  Do you want that singer coming to your job and yelling out "Carburetor"?

Here ya go, read the whole article here, then take our survey and tell us what bugs you at a show.
