University of Central Missouri President Chuck Ambrose and Mrs. Kris Ambrose will host the annual President's Lawn Concert Monday, July 30.  The decision has just been announced to move the event from the lawn of Selmo Park to the Elliott Union due to the predicted high
temperatures.

UCM administrators will begin serving ice cream and cookies at 7 p.m., and the Warrensburg Community Band, under the direction of Russell Coleman, UCM professor emeritus of music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and seating is provided.

The program will open with the national anthem, followed a presentation of by “Rhapsodic Celebration” by Robert Sheldon, “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” adapted by Warren Barker; and “Gypsy Dance” from “Carmen” by Georges Bizet.

Neil Seipp, professor emeritus of music, will be the featured trumpet soloist as the band performs “Ode for Trumpet” by Alfred Reed, followed by the band’s presentation of “The Klaxon,” a march by Henry Fillmore, and “A Scottish Portrait” by James Swearingen.

Stella Roden, associate professor of music, will be the featured vocal soloist during the band’s presentation of “La Paloma” by Yradier, followed by an arrangement of music from “The Wizard of Oz” by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg.

Wrapping up the program will be a rousing rendition of John Philip Sousa’s march, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and Warrensburg Community Band tradition.
