Additional Information

Church Women United of Sedalia invite you  to join with them and the women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions to celebrate the World Day of Prayer, Friday, March 1, 2013.  The Christian Women of France have prepared this year’s worship service.  They are looking for ways to have a Christian response to struggles concerning immigration and for ways to welcome “the stranger” and reach into Jesus’ identification with “the least of these” and draw on customs of hospitality found in the Bible to paint a picture of welcoming the stranger.

Cheryl Brown, ecumenical chairperson, announces this year the service will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 418 W. 4th, at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 1.  Light refreshments will be served following the service.

We invite the communities of faith to join with us and the women of France in prayer and song to support ecumenical efforts toward welcoming the stranger.  The annual offering supports the work of World Day of Prayer, USA and helps meet the needs of families in France and around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence, discrimination and other injustice.  Services around the world begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on the day of the Celebration of World Day of Prayer.
