Sacred Heart Varsity Gremlins scored nine runs in the first on its way to an 11-1 victory over Prairie Home Panthers (with Bunceton) on Wednesday.

Connor Rice, Gavin Caldwell, Traven Wheeler, Noah Damlo, Marcel Walton, and George Bain all contributed in the big inning with RBIs in Class 1, District 9 Tournament action.

Sacred Heart Varsity Gremlins opened up scoring in the first inning. Rice drove in one when Rice singled.

Bain was the winning pitcher for Sacred Heart Varsity Gremlins. Bain allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven.

Layne Brandes took the loss for Prairie Home Varsity Panthers. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing seven runs on two hits and striking out one.

Carter Rice led Sacred Heart Varsity Gremlins with three hits in three at-bats. Sacred Heart Varsity Gremlins didn't commit a single error in the field. Rice had the most chances in the field with seven.

Prairie Home Varsity Panthers was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Wyatt Case made the most plays with seven.

Prairie Home/Bunceton is now 7-10.

Sacred Heart is now 18-10.
