It's one of the most difficult family decisions you can make and frankly, most can't afford to do it. A Missouri family has gone viral as they've shared the reason why they chose to leave the Show Me State and raise their children in Spain.

I saw the story of this interesting Missouri family trending on Yahoo. The woman's name is Luna who has developed a very popular TikTok channel. She's documenting her family's decision to move out of the United States to raise their kids in Spain in effect becoming ex-patriots. The video that has gotten everyone's attention involves her husband sharing the moment he knew this was the right thing to do.

As she shared in the video, many women have messaged her through TikTok saying that the men in their life don't like the idea of leaving the US. Her husband admitted that he was beginning to feel the weight of living in America as he fears the presence of those who are carrying firearms. That culture does not exist in Spain and that's what he and his wife decided was best for their children.

How much does it cost to move from the United States to Spain?

International Van Lines estimates the cost to be between $2,500 and $10,000 depending on the family. There's more than just the issue of getting your stuff to Spain. Apartment Therapy says that Spain offers visas like "non-lucrative residency visas" which let you live in Spain without working there if you're working remotely for a US company. To apply, you have to apply from the US consulate in Missouri. If you decide you want a long-term transfer from the US to Spain, it gets quite a bit more complicated.

What this Missouri family decided isn't for everyone. I would argue that most can't afford it even if they agree with the reasoning. It is something that is becoming more prominent though.
