The Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl Champions in two decades. If you're looking to celebrate the victory with the Chiefs in Kansas City, here's what you need to know about the victory parade and rally.

Parade Route

The parade will start at Grand Boulevard and 6th Street. It will head South on Grand, then west on Pershing Road, north on Main, and culminating at Union Station. The parade will step off from 6th and Grand at 11:00 AM CST, and is estimated that the parade will take 90 minutes.

Rally

The rally is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:45 in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial North lawn. The rally is expected to last approximately 60 minutes.

Transit and Parking 

KC Streetcar

Kansas City's Streetcar passenger service will be available at all streetcar stops except Union Station on Wednesday, February 14. Riders and parade goers will exit the KC Streetcar at the Crossroad southbound stop. Northbound travelers may board at the KC Crossroads northbound stop. Service will start at 6:00 AM and operate with 10-12 minute frequencies unit l10:30 AM CST.

Streetcar service will be suspended from 10:30 AM CST through the entirety of the parade and rally. Service will be re-opened with the tracks clear between 20th Street and Pershing Road.

KCATA Round Trip Park & Ride

KCATA shuttles will provide park-and-ride service from 7:00 AM -10:30 AM, and again from Noon to 4:00 PM. Shuttle riders will be dropped off and picked up from the same location for their specific shuttle. KCATA asks those using park-and-ride locations to be patient and be prepared for a 45-minute wait at popular locations.

  • Former K-Mart at Chouteau and Vision, 2835 NE Vivion Road, 64119, Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick Up: Truman Road & Lydia.
  • Hy-Vee Arena / West Bottoms, 1800 Genessee St, 64102, Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick Up: 18th & Troost.
  • Swope Park/KC Zoo and Aquarium, 6800 Zoo Drive, 64132, Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick Up: 31st & Gillham.
  • Oak Park Mall, 11149 W 95th Street, Overland Park, KS, 62214, Event Dropoff and Shuttle Pick Up: Avenida Cesar Chavez & Southwest Boulevard.
  • 47th Street State Transit Center, 849 N 47th, Kansas City, KS, 66102, This shuttle will bus people to Hy-Vee Arena, where riders will transfer to busses that will drop them off and pick up at 18th & Troost.

Parking Around the Event

Parking lots around the event include:

  • The National WW1 Museum and Memorial. $50.00 cost, parking hours 8:00 AM -5:00 PM. Parking does not include museum admission.
  • Union Station. More information on parking at Union Station can be found here. I would expect event parking fees will be in place.
  • Crown Center. $40.00 cost credit or debit cards only. Garages will open at 5:00 AM, and no overnight parking in garages or lots will be permitted. No grilling and no glass containers are permitted in surface lots or garages. Spots are first come first served.

Closures During the Events

The thought of heading to Kansas City and making a day of it for the parade and rally is a great idea. That said, businesses in and around the parade route, Union Station, and The Crown Center may not be open during normal hours, may operate on a different schedule, or may choose not to open at all,

Crayola Kansas City, Halls Kansas City, KID OH!, The Coterie, Crown Center Ice Terrace, Hallmark Visitors Center, and Kaleidoscope in the Crown Center are CLOSED on parade day. Crown Center will be updating its list of businesses open and closed on Wednesday, February 14, here.

Union Station will be closed to public access from 11:59 PM CST Tuesday, February 13 through Wednesday, February 14 at approximately 4:00 PM CST. The Chiefs Fan Zone at Union Station is open Monday, February 12 until 11:00 PM. Tuesday, February 13, photo ops in the Grand Hall will remain open, however, the main Fan Zone in the Grand Plaza will be closed in preparation for Wednesday's parade and rally. Union Station asks fans to check the Union Station Facebook page for updates on what photo ops may be available after the rally, and whether or not the main Fan Zone will be open on Thursday or Friday.

The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center will be open to registered hotel guests only, and the walkway between the Sheraton and Westin will be closed on Wednesday and not open to any traffic.

Other Information That's Good To Know

  • Vehicles in temporary no-parking zones on or near the parade route may have vehicles relocated at the owner's expense.
  • Vehicles left/parked on interstates will be relocated at the owner's expense.
  • Cell service at and during the event may be very limited.
  • There is a designated space in Crown Center Square for wheelchairs and ADA accessibility. Space is limited and first come first served.   • Officially licensed merchandise will be available at Pershing & Main, Crown Center Square, and Pershing & Kessler.

Have fun and enjoy the parade. Kansas City's NBC affiliate, KSHB 41 will be airing the parade and rally in the Kansas City area in case you'd rather watch the festivities on television.
