Considering how many periods of heat Missouri has already dealt with this year, to say the most dangerous one yet is about to impact the state, but that's exactly what the state is bracing for this week.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri is already warning about the super hot days that many will experience this week. In their newest briefing, they gave details of what will happen once a strong high pressure system settles into the Midwest.

Here are some key things to keep in mind. The worst heat is expected to be the parts of Missouri south of the Missouri River and worst impacts will be in the big cities like St. Louis. There is some hope that cloud cover and thunderstorm development could lessen the severe heat, but that's something that's hard to anticipate at this time. This next heatwave is expected to cause problems in Missouri through at least Thursday, July 24, 2025. How long that high pressure system remains in place will decide if the state gets a break later this week or if the oppressive heat extends into next weekend, too.
