7 Signs That It’s Almost Spring In Missouri
Every year some things happen in Missouri to announce that spring is almost here. Some of these signs are already happening! Here are 7 signs that tell me it's almost spring in Missouri.
Gasoline Prices Rise
As we get into the second part of February, gas prices rise a little bit as we all switch from winter-formulated gasoline to the summer blend. I noticed this price increase when I filled up this past weekend.
College Baseball and Softball are in Full Swing
I notice this driving around Warrensburg as it's not that surprising to run into a University of Central Missouri Mules baseball game, or Jennie's softball game. It's the same if you live in any other college town, spring sports like softball and baseball are in full swing.
Cardinals and Royals Open Spring Training!
When the Royals head to Arizona and the Cardinals head to Florida for Spring Training, it's a sure sign spring will be here soon. Of course, that doesn't mean you won't be freezing in your seats at Busch Stadium or Kauffman Stadium on opening day. Just remember, it was probably nice the week before.
State Fair Concert Announcements
One sure sign of spring is the Missouri State Fair concert announcements. Granted, it may be a slightly bigger thing for West Central Missouri and Sedalia than other parts of Missouri. However, when the concert announcements start happening, spring weather will soon be here.
Chiefs Super Bowl Champions Gear Is Out
I don't want to assume anything. Yet, you know spring will soon be here when the Kansas City Chiefs playoff gear goes on sale. An even better sign of spring is when the Chiefs Super Bowl Championship gear goes on sale! (Not to mention our Super Bowl Champions parade and rally.)
All The Colorful Birds Are Back In My Backyard
Another sure sign of spring is when I start to see Blue Jays, Cardinals, and Robins flying around my backyard, and living in the tree line behind my house. I've already seen a few.
Restaurants & Bars Get The Patios Opened Up!
Now this one I haven't seen this year, yet. Although, with how much nice weather we've had over the winter, I'm surprised some places haven't gone and opened up their patio yet. Ok, maybe that's a little bit of wishful thinking. Usually, one of the last signs of spring I see are places that are prepping and opening up their patio for the spring and summer seasons.
So what are some of the sure signs of spring you see every February - March?
