Missouri Warned of Life-Threatening Tennis Ball-Sized Hail Monday
You hopefully understand by now that Missouri will see severe thunderstorms on Monday. What you may not know yet is that there is a good chance that some parts of the state could see life-threatening tennis ball-sized hail.
Let's start with what NOAA's Storm Prediction Center is saying about the chances for severe thunderstorms beginning Monday, April 28, 2025. All of Missouri has a decent chance of seeing severe weather develop.
It's when you look specifically at hail that you see major danger for Missouri. The hatched red area is where severe hail is most likely and the northwest part of Missouri is in the danger zone.
Here are the exact words from the Storm Prediction Center about what these storms might include:
- "strong tornado potential"
- "Scattered large to very large hail"
- "damaging winds are likely"
Ryan Hall also picked up on the dangers of this incoming storm system and how it might impact the entire Midwestern region.
When will the storms begin to hit Missouri?
The Storm Prediction Center says "the most dangerous period is likely during the late afternoon and evening". While there will be a continuing chance of severe storms on Tuesday also, Monday looks to be the most problematic for Missouri. Make sure you're weather aware as you start the week. There's a good chance there will be multiple severe thunderstorm warnings once storms begin in Missouri Monday afternoon.
