Pettis County Commission Hosts Gathering With Local Faith Leaders
On Tuesday afternoon, the Pettis County Commission welcomed local pastors and faith leaders to the Pettis County Courthouse for a voluntary gathering focused on reflection, unity, and a moment of prayer for the community and its leaders at every level of government.
The event, held in the Commission Chambers, provided an opportunity for members of the faith community to join together in offering support and encouragement for elected officials and the broader community.

“This gathering was about unity and a shared commitment to the well-being of our community,” said Presiding Commissioner Bill Taylor. “We appreciate the presence of our local pastors and the encouraging words and prayers they offered for the people of Pettis County and for those serving in public roles."
Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza, who helped organize the event, added, “In challenging times, we need strong partnerships—and that includes a spiritual foundation. Today’s gathering reminded us that faith, service, and community go hand in hand."
Commissioner Baeza added, “As someone who deeply values the role faith plays in shaping our families and our future, I’m proud to stand alongside our local pastors and leaders. When we come together in prayer and purpose, we send a clear message that we are stronger as a community, and we are committed to working together to build a better future for Pettis County and beyond.
Western Commissioner Mark Edwards noted, “We’re grateful to live in a county where people of different backgrounds and beliefs come together in support of common values—community, service, and care for one another."
The Commission emphasized that the gathering was open and voluntary, and reflected the county’s broader commitment to civic engagement and the well-being of all its residents.
