Obnoxious Or Not? Missouri’s Most Searched Slang Words
Every generation comes up with some slang terms that they popularize, just like it seems every year, some slang or unthought-of word makes its way into the dictionary for the first time. 2024 is no exception, and the older you are, the more likely you will be scrambling to Google or the Urban Dictionary to figure out what the young kids are saying. Keep reading and scrolling to check out the Top 10 searched slang words for Missouri for 2024.
First, though, today's young people aren't the first generation to develop slang terms. The Baby Boomers gave us a lot of slang, some of which is still used today and others not so much. Here are some boomer slang terms that still tickle me:
Groovy - Awesome, stylish, or fantastic, popular in the 60s.
Bummer - A disappointing or bad situation.
Split - To leave quickly.
Fuzz - Slang for the cops.
Bograt - To hog something or refuse to share.
Of course, as members of Generation X, we had the terms we came up with. For better or worse, I don't think these have aged as well as some of the Baby Boomer terms, like the term "gag me with a spoon," for example. Anyway, here are a few Gen X slang terms and their definitions.
Gnarly - Something extreme, either in a good or bad way.
Rad - Short for radical, meaning something impressive or excellent.
Psych! -Said after tricking someone, like, "I didn't really break it... psych!"
Dude - A casual way of addressing someone, often used as an all-purpose term for people.
Grody - Gross or unpleasant.
Of course, 2024's most searched slang words for Missouri include words with actual non-slang meanings like Demure and Schmaltz, words imitating sounds like Hawk Tuah, and the fun to say Skibidi. Keep scrolling to check out Missouri's most searched-for slang words for 2024.
