Two JoCo Residents Injured in Collision
Two Johnson County residents were injured in a two-car collision that occurred Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2005 GMC, driven by a 17-year-old male, was on Highway 58, west of SW 1081 Road (east of Holden) just after 4 p.m., when the driver attempted to slow for traffic, but the 17-year-old told police his brakes failed, so he swerved into the westbound lanes to avoid colliding with a stopped vehicle and struck a westbound Ford F-250 head-on.
The 17-year-old, from Centerview, and the driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old male from Holden, both suffered moderate injuries. The teen was transported to Children's Mercy Hospital by JCAD. The driver of the Ford was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by JCAD.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Johnson County Deputies, Fire and EMS assisted the Patrol.
